MASKED YOUTH IN ARMED HOLD-UP
MASTERTON, Mar. 12. An armed hold-up occurred at 6.2 p.m. vesterday when a masked juvenil stepped out on to the main highwa, at Opaki, a quarter of a niile from th. Masterton borough boundary, and de manded money- from a motorist, Lei Ivenneth Wveth, of Opaki, at the poim of a loaded .303 rifle. Wveth ofl'ered the lad two one pound notes, and he took one, and ordered Wyeth on his way. The poliee arrested a juvenile in a Masterton picture tlieatre at 1(T p.m. A .303 l'ifle, with a round in the chamber, the automatic loading cntch released, and nine rounds in the magazine, was found by the police in flax bushes near the scene of the hold-up. There were also found a" band of cartridges, u helmet and a handkerchief, which had been uscd as a mask. Later a quantitv of cartridges was found . among thlad's eft'ects at a boarding house where he had booked in under a false name The matter will be dealt cwith in the Children 's Court.
