Mr. A. E., Davenport, chief electrical enginerr of the Department, said this morning that all the indlcatioiis were for a very bad day. For some time - past the peak load each week has been on Tuesday. The demand begins early in the morning, from' breakt'asttime. The precise reason for thTe heavy demand for- power being on Tuesdays is not known. It has been suggested, however, that as Mondayjs still washing day in many homes, possibly most ironing is done 011 Tnesdays, sehding up the consumption of electrie power. Users of electricity in Wellington, are asked by the electricity department to cut down their use of power to the greatest extent possible. The city department has been advised by the Electricity Controller that it is well above its allocation, and that the supply will be cut in the Wellington area.
