Record Crowd at Shannon Ideal weather conditions prevailed at Shannon "on Saturday when the local sports club held its eleventh annual meeting. Visitors were present from all over the district and the flxture was the most successful yet held by the club. Added attractions to the programme were gymnastic displays by pupils of the Horowhenua College ahd marching by the Shannon girls marching teams. The winners of the F.S. Easton Perpetual Challenge Cup for the points prize in horse events were Messrs. E. Ropiha and- G. Vickers first (equal) with 19 points; Mr. D. Blake was third with 14 points. The F. C. Peach bridle, a points prize for certain events was won by David Barber with 14 points; D. Blake was second with eight points and Jack Barber third with five points.
