Pcrsoiidili Lieuoenant (A) F.' B. Heffer, Waikanae, has been -awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. Mrs. D. G. Sutherland left on Thursday for New Plymouth 011 holiday. Mr. and Mrs. A. Thomson, for many years residents of this district and now of New Plymouth, are spending a holiday in Otaki. Maori Missions The total amount contributed to the Maori mission fund by the Anglican Church in the Otaki Parish for the year ending March 31 was £20 10s 6d. Bands' Display On Sunaay, commencing at 1.45 p.m. brass bands will give a -display on the domain, and lovers of music should attend. The programme should be greatly appreciated, and the marching should attract special attention. Preparing for Football Tne rugby season is approaching and with it comes the annual meetings of clubs. The first to "kickoff" will-be the- Otaki Club, which will hold a meeting at "The Chronicle" office 011 Tuesday next, when a full muster of sports is hoped for. Fire Brigade Conference The annual conference in connection with the Fire Brigades' Association will be held this year at Auckland, and the Otaki Brigade' will be represented by Superintendent C. Sharp, Deputy-Super-intendent Stan Harvcy, Secretary O. B. Nilsson and Mr. T. V. Cahill. These representatives leave. on Thursday by car for the north.
