Hidden for days after its brief appearance last week, the sun shone again over London and some parts oi southern England after a night in which the heaped snow became solid on the roads. The sun during the morning was not strong enough to thaw out any part of the snow and ice-bound England. The foreeast, however, promised day temperatures above freezing point. An enlarged army of street sweepers is busy in London streets, clearing the footpaths for pedestrians and as a safeguard against flooding should a big thaw occur, but the buses continued to bump over the roads so filled with icey pitholes that they resembled bush tracks. It is the same throughout the country. The Automobile Association has warned that the frozen ridges and slush might cause punctures, ripped tires and broken spryigs. ' ^ ± It has been announced that despite fears of transport dislocation, London's meat ration is safe for the week-end. .
