WELLINGTON, Mav. 5, Tli e New Zealnnd Government has dee.aed. that a gift of £10,000,000 (in New Zealand cuvrency £12,500,000) be made to the United Kingdom Govoi£iment. Aimouncing this today Hon. R. .Fraser said tlie arnount would be provided i'rom the Dominion's stei-ling balanees in London. "It is a gift from tlie Government. and people of New Zealand 1 o ihe Govennnent and people of the United Kingdom and is in . reeo'griition of the magnifieent and unpreeedented effort, of United ' Kingdom and her people, in maintaining ITeedom and making possible its expansion in years to come," said Ma. Fraser. "It Avil 1 ai'foi'd some reduction in the heavy load whieh the United Kingdom (lovermnent and people are carrying at this time and recognises the enormous bnrden that the United Kingdom Government has earried and is bearing during the postwar period."
