BABIES BODIES IN WORKSHOP OF UNDERTAKER
"Received Mondav 8.30 p.m. ADELA1DE, Mar. .3. The poliee took possession of tlie decomposed bodies of eight babies which were found seattered around an undertaker's workshoj) in tlie suburbs. Some of Ihe babies are believed to have been dead for nine months. The liodies were found in cardboard boxes and wrapped in newspapers. A1 though some are believed to have been stillborn, a pathological examination sug gests otliers had lived some hours. Oue appeared to be about three weeks old. • The diseovery was niade when the poliee went to arrest tli'e undertaker on warrant for the lionpayment of a debt following a judgment given againsl lnm in tlie loeal court. While looking for the proprietor the poliee went to Ihe workshop and on iifting a lid from a rardboard bo\, saw .tlie body of a baby. Otlier bodies were, found under work benehes and in oild corners. The undertaker is understood to have clainiod he had warrants to bury in each ~ ense. TTe was taken to Adelaide gaol to serve a ten days' sentence for the nunpayiuent oi' tlie debt,
