JONES TO MEET HANHAM AT HASTINGS
HASTINGS, Feb. 20/ Willie Jones, the negro boxer who beal Bos Murphv at Petone last week, has been substituted for Murphv in the contest arranged with Cliff Hanhani, Soutliland, in Hastings on March II. The eliange in the riiatching was brought about by the decision of Murphv, t'ollowing the in.jury to his nose in last week's iight, at least temporarily to retire. The Hawke's Bay Boxing Association communicated with the New Zealand Boxing Council in Wellington requesting the council to negotiate for .Tones as a substitute for Murphv and urging the council to give its conscut lu the pursc rcmaiuing at £500 which is £200 more than tlie official pursc allowed for the Murphy.Tones contest. Advice that Jones had signed up to meet Hanham was reeeived in Hastings todav.
