MARKET REPORT

Messrs. Townsend and Paul, Ltd., fruit and produce merchants, Wellington, report that smaller supplies of stonefruits that have again been available have been readily placed at highest values. Apricots and peaches have been in particularly short supply, while nectarines have sold at improved rates. Larger supplies of tomatoes have co'me to hand, choice lines realising ceiling. Quinces and small supplies of passionfruit have also been available, both varieties selling readily. Quotations are: — Apricots, 13/8; peaches, 12/8; plums, 11/2; greengages, 18/-, 32/-; nectarines, 15/-, 36/-; quinces, 8/6, 12/6 -i-case; Cape gooseberries, 1/9, 2/3; grapes, 2/6, 3/6; mushrooms, 16/-, 4/- lb. ; passionfruit, 23/- -j-case; tomatoes, best, 6i-d lb ; others, 4/-, 10/- hcase. Flower auctions have again been well attende'd, although smaller supplies have been offered. Most varieties of vegetables have also been sought, particularly greene and cauliflowers. Pumpkins and. cucumbers, however, have been in particularly large supply, the market being easier. All breeds of poultry have sold readily, prime birds again being placed tq advantage.
