RESIDENTS DISTURBED
loudspeaker at domain draws protest a protest that the loudspeaker used at the Levin Domain during the sports meeting on Saturday night had disturbed nearby resi'dents, was made at the monthly meeting of the Levin Borougn Cbuncil on Monday night. Coubcillors stated that complaintsi had been reeeived. Cr. Telford suggested that the association concerned be approached and asked to d'ecrease the volume of the speaker. The Mayor, Mr. Burdekin, a'greed, commenting that his attention had b'een drawn to the noise- created by the loudspeaker on Satilrddy night and that consideration' should be given to residents in the locality, particulariy those with young children. He agfeed that the night in question was a particulariy still ohe and this had probably accentuated the hoise. C'f. Chain'ey said' it wa's unlikeiy that the asS'oeiation would be holding further night meetings of this nature this season. The volume had not been so apparent on the grouhds'. It was agreed that the mattef be pointed out to> the association. a complaint that many patrons of functions at the Levin Park D'omain . still persisted in pa-rking cars on the property was made by Cr. D. J. Gardiner, who said that the grounds were looking particulariy well just now and it was- a pity to see them being broken up by vehicles. The Mayor remarked that there were some people VTh'o as the result of illhealth were' desirous of parking their cars in the grbli'nds- and he would' not like to stop them. However there were many oth'efs' taking advantage of the situation and apart from the dam'a'ge to tm grouhds, there was alwa'ys the danger of children being knocked down. On the sug'gestion of Cr. Chainey it was agreed that a notice prohibiting the general use of the grounds for parking beput at the gate".
