Personal Miss V. Cole. of VogeL Street, has returned home after spending a holiday at Patea. Miss N. Moynihan, of the local Bank of New Zealand staff, has. returned home after spending h6r annual leave in Auckland. Mr. G. McEwen, of Mr. J. A. Roach's staff, is at present on his annual leave and Mr. G. Drewry, of Dannevirke, is relieving at the bakehouse. • • Town Queen Appointed Following a meeting of the town queen committee in the Fire Brigade rooms last evening. the chairman, Mr. C. G. Wishart, advised that Miss Ngaire Peach had 'been appointed to represent the town people in the forthcoming Fire Brigade Queen Carnival. Return. to Summer Shannon experienced a return of summer weather over the weekend and large crowds attended outdoor activities. The attendance at the bowling greens and tennis courts was very large and the neighbouring beach es, especially on Sunday, were well patronised. A rather strong breeze cooled the atmosphere yesterday. Donation for Marching Trophies The Horowhenua Marching Association will be confronted with no little expense in the holding of the Wellington Provincial Marching Championships at Levin on Saturday, March 22. Since its formation the association has not appealed to the public for funds, but anyone wishing to make a donation to help buy the trophies are requested to contact either the secretary, Box 19, Levin, or Mr. T.
