TRENTHAM, Eeb. 24. Following some brilliaut morning shooting over 300 and 600yds, marksmcii found thc wind conditiona rnoat diaeonccx'ting in the afternoon shoot at .000 yda when the National rifle champiouships reaumed at Trentham today. Among those to strike the tricky patch was the leader, H. King (Opaki) who returned 37. Ilowever, his excellent scores in the previous matches, which ineluded three possibles, enabled hini to retain hia position. The closest challenger is D. J. Flynn, a promising young Eeatheraton shot, who returned a brilliant 45 at 900 yds and is only one point behind King. With the good liglit prevailing and the Ballinger beit matches finishing, ah early opportuuity was takou to shoot oi! tlie service chauipionship. This was won by the young Upper Hutt rifleman, It. H. Whiteman, who recorded some excellent performances during the charnpionship. Tt. II. Nicholl (Petone) and his club mate, E. A. Ballinger, tied for second place, Nicholl winning the shoot Off.
