Douglan , (Oamaru) with a net score of 37 points In the afternoon itclntosh won thI medal handicap with a net score of (>;) 'and he also won the 3()-hole medal hau 1 dieap with a net 141. i The course was fast, and in the inorn ing a gustv north vvest wind troubled t players a little. 9 Best scorcr was A. Murray (unattachcd, Auckland) with 72, one under par. He plaved excellent golf but had troulile with the pace oi tlie greens. Mclntosh, A. H. Dvki* i (Merenui, Napier), J. Lamliie (unat ■ tached. Wellington), A. J. Shaw (Hast ings), E. S. Douglan (Oamaru) and A. E. Guv (unattached, Auckland) all took '75. j In the afternoon tlu* best round ovas a 70 by Shaw who played llawlcss goii until the 17th. He vvent out 111 3 5, one under par, and then scored birdics at four of tlie next iivc lioles. At the second to last hole Shaw caught the . bunker and took six, losing two strokes, 1 but he was home in 35, two under par Murray played good golf in scoring 72. .Others who made a good imprcssion Jwcre W. Allbon (unattached, Auck land) 71, Mclntosh 72 and Guv 73. i The first two rounds of the Cantefi burv championship will be played to j morrow.
