Received Friday, 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Feb. 20. The skippers oi ice-encrusted trawlers returning to east coast ports state that a great iceneld moving across the North Sea is now a menace to navigation. Four trawlers were at- one time trapped in the field, but escaped after three hours of skilful navigation. The floes are now moving into coastal shipping channels, and light ships and coastguards alorig the east Norfolk coast are keeping a 24hour watch. The Air Miiiistry announeed that four aircraft are searching the North Sea for ice-floes. Scientists aboard the research vessel Sir Lancelot discovered two degrees below freezing poiht almost down to the bottom. They believe "his will result in a big reduction ;n fish three or four years hence, because of cold killing the young fish now. The Admiralty, while reporting 'hat the danger to vessels from ice-floes has been exaggerated, "tated that two minesweepers observing the fioes reported ice a foot thick covering an extensive area, but that even small ships were able to plough their way through without diffieulty.
