NAPIER, Feb. 21. Commentin'g that he had taken ,n to consideration the jury's strong recommendation to mercy; because be considered accused had been oadly treated by those whose loyal:y he was entitled t'o expect, Judge Ohristie today . sentenced Gyril Walter Goodman, of Dannevirke, to three years' hard labour. Goodman was found guilty' of the attempted murder of his former wife, Kathleen Lucy Christiahsen, of Dannevirke, on October 12, 1946, and also the discharge of a firearih causing actual bodily harm to. Mrs. Christiansen on the same date.
