SEMI-FINALS ON COURSE
GALLOPS AT AWAPUNI As a result of Friday's rain the horses are again galloping on the conrse proper at Awapuni. Yesterday morning the going was perfect when horses engaged at Egmont and Woodville were given their semitinal trials. The flags were thirty feet out on the course proper and outstanding gallops were •those of Theiolyn and Flying Orders, over six, Broiefield and Yasda, Flying Ace over seven, Ngakoti over six, Fen and Voltaic over seven, and G-ay Stroller over a mile. Flying Ace (A. G. Waddell) had Duteh Mary (R. Saundcrs) as a companion over seven furlongs which lic rau coinfortably in 1.35 '3-5. Flying Ace is likeJy to go to Hawera insteac. of to Woodvijle. If he does go to Taranaki he vvill be ridden by A. G. Waddell. Lady Oratory (Saunders) workoi* sinoothly over six in 1.24, tlie iirsl tliree in 40 1-5. Lady Oratory, Tula and Putch Mary are to race at Woodville wliere tliey will be ridden by II. Baunders. Plialaria (X. Ronse) and Tula (A. Waddell) galloped a mile and tliey were going strongly at the linish after running the full distanco in 1.53, the last three in 42 and the iirst i'urlong in 10 2-5. Langue d'Or and Arco were to liave gone a mile but they travelled not niuch over seven. They began at about iif teen to the furloug and were going strongly at the linish to coniplete the. seven in 1.40. They Jook very weil. Theiolyn (J. Harris) and Flying Orders (A. Bowness) went away froni the six furlong barrier and they were travelling i'ast down (he back straight to ruti the first three in better than 30. They went on with it and were liome in 41 to coniplete in 1.18 2-5. Dualin (Waddell) and Bonnv Lang (W. L. Aitken) pleased over seven. After boing given plenty of time to settle down tliey wero liome the last three in 42 to coniplete iu 1.30 2-5. Aurora 's JSong and Broilyn broke 42 for the last three tc cover Ihe in 1.8. They were travelling kindly at the linish. Broiefield (C. Eley) and Yasda (Hauiulers) started from near the seven and they were tinied to run the last Jive in 1.7 3-5, the last three in 30 4-5. They were travelling very strongly al the linish. Xga..nti (D. Aincy) was clear of Glen Urquhart (L. J. Clutterbuck) al the linish of six, and was tinied to run the last iive i- 1.7, and tlie last tliree in 40 3-5. Old Honley spriuted f'our furlongs, coming liome attractively iu 40 2 5. Brovider VA.
