BLENHEIM, Feb. 18. The one-way bridges along the routes taken by the Vice-Regal partv during their visit to Marlborough and Nelson are being patrolled by police as tlu result of an incident which occurre' when General Sir Bernard Freylierg and Lady Freyberg were coming to Bleu heim by car from Christchurch. Their car and a truek laden writl milk cans, driven by a farmer, arrived almost simultaneously 011 a one-way bridge and the question arose as to«who would give way.' The farnier stub bornly refused to baek some live or six yards which would have given sufficient clearanee for the Vice-Regal cars to pass, and eventually General Freyberg ordered his chaflfeur to b'ack some 3! yards, allowing the farmer to gu through. . The Governor-General and Lady Freyberg are paying their lirst offieial visit to Marlborough proviilce. Yesterday they were the guests of honour at a series pf fuxietions, including a ejvic reception aud a special gatheriiig of exservicemen, and today they are making an offieial visit to Picton,
