Sheik Ali Shahin, former Mayw of Jaffa, was murdersd at the door of ms liome last night by an unknown Arab. i Tht- murder is believed to have a political motive. Shahin opposed the ieadershiyi of tlie Mnfti of Jerusalem. Jewish owners of flats and apartments in .Jerusalem, who were evicted early this week to make way for British troops, left booby traps and damaged tlie bats. Si.x British soldiers who idceived in.juries from the traps, were treated in hospital.
