Five soldiers attached to Tachikawa Arrny air ba-nj wero arrested after a 10-dav search and were charged with innrder. The Hachio.ji police said American soldiers in a jeep pulled- np on the Tachikawa-Haehioji road on the night of .lainiary 31, lialted passersby and slngged them with a three-foot length of iirewood. The soldiers tlien went to Hachio.ji, witered rest aurants, broke glass and wrecked fnrnitnre.
