The overseCr (Mr. P. V. Tucker) sub mitted the follow'ulg rcport. During the.past ihonth "felief »wasc'gi-vieii to Akers drain north1 of tlie interseoling channel by clearing the bottom growth for a distance of two and a-half miles. A thorough job is now being made from the lower end, all .slips and slurry be irig shovelled out. The intersecting channel has been cleaned througliout and the water level is the lowest for tnany years past. The Old Main drain has also been cleaned from the intersecting channel to some 15 chains above the ^Makerua Boad. Before the contractors left the Scymours Bend bank, oiiportunity was taken to builcl up tho stopbanlc above Akers drain fioodgate and at five otlicr low places between Akers fioodgate and the old Poplar tram-gate. Serious erosion has occurred under the right bank of the Mangaore strcam about five chains below the ilangaore putnp. Stcps are being taken inunediately to check this erosion and endeavoiir to savc the slopbank. Apart from tlie Mangaore pump which is only working alxmt sevcn lninutes in l'our hours, no pumping lias been done this luontli.
