BOYS SENT TO GAOL
Received Wednesday, 10 p.m. SYDNEY, Feb. 12. Three 'teen-age vouths who embarked on a career of crime were each sentenced to five years' 'gaol for two smasli and grab raids and the possession of a stolen car. The boys, who came from Goulburn and whose ages ranged from i7 to 15 vears, were oue time model Sunday school pupils and members of the Fairfield Boys' Police Olub. The police report stated that they ran away from home, stole cars and pilfered as they travelled over o000 miles, visiting Melbourne,* Adelaide and Renmark. In oue case oue boy stood guard witli a loaded rifie wliile the others carried out a robberv. Later, when they suspected police pu'rsuit, tliev pointed the rifie tlirough the car window. Dismissing a plea for leniencv on the part of tlie bovs' parents, the Judge said lie was determined to convince adults and children that crime did not pay. In all such cases his sympathies were with the victinis and' not the criminals.
