WELLINGTON, Feb. 12. . A forecast of legislation affecting .the election of city councils, to bb brought down by the Government in the coniing sesision, was mhd'e hy Cr. R. A. Wright at the meeting of the Wellington City Council tonight. ' " Councillors would khow that, as a result of legislation passed at the end of the last session of Parliamentj council elections would be held in November instead of in April, .said Cr. Wright. The new legislation to he brought down in.the coming session would re;tum the polli'ng to the old ward system with the Mayor td be elected by the councillors So elect^ ed instead of by a separate mayoral election. . . Cr. Wright asked the Mayor, Mr; Will Appleton, if he would raise the . matter at the forthcoming municipah confereiice so that forces could he organised to fight the legislation when it was introduced. The Mayor said he would he .Very glad to raise the matter at the conference.
