A jury in the Supreme Court, Wellington, today after a retirenieut of 25 iniuutes fouud Douglas Patrick Cooney, a seaman aged 24, guilty 011 a eharge of stealing on or about September 25 last a suitcase containing £137 iu money and various articlps of clothing of a total value of £147 from the Wcluigton railwav station. The jury reeonniiended mercv on tlie ground that the theft was not premeditated and accused was renianded for sentence by Mr. .Tustice Cornisli. Accused had pleaded not guilty. • .
