The local public will have the opportunity of seeing the : teams in action at the Shannon 1 sports on March 8, when the two I Shannon teams will give displays. Untidy Streets 1 Although a rubbish receptablc has been provided in Ballance j Street in an effert to keep the j main streets tidy, only a halfIhearted attempt is being made to use it, with the result that the jtown's main streets continue to be I an eye-sore to those who pass j through over the weekend. It is jindeed unfortunate that the public icannot be educated to take a pride In Shannon, and make some elfort to keep it respectable in the eyes of the travelling public. Each Sunday sees. the main streets littered i from one end to the other with jsheets of greasy newspaper and i*.e cream wrappers.
