BIG AUCKLAND HANDICAP TO SINGLE DIRECT.

AUCKLAND, yeb. 9. The Auckland Trotting Obib 's Pebruary meeting was conelu'ded yesterday in fine weather. There was a large atteudauce- and the track was hard and fast. ' The lirst two-year-old classic of the season, the Great Northern Trotting Stakes, was w'on very easily by the Tq Awamutu trained youngster, British Machine, from the Christchurch eandidates Sir Yivian and Maia. The totalisator handled £ls3 7,515, as against £130,594 10s on the second day last year. The total for the meeting was £253,310, as against £249,657 10s, the increase being £3652 10s.
