Messrs. Townsend and Paul, Ltd., fruit and produce merchants, Wellington, report that fruit auctions during the past week have again been welUattended, supplies, however, still being far from adequate. Apricots and peaches aje in particularly short supply, ceiling price being readily obtainable. All varieties of plums have also been sought, while high values have ruled for nectarines and greengages. Larger quantities of tomatoes have come to hand, values easing. Quotations are: Apricots, 13/8; peaches, 12/8; plums, 11/2 i-case, ceiling price; nectarines, 10/-, 23/6; greengages 14/-, 33/6 i-case; cherries, 10/-, 20/-;, tomatoes, 5d, 1/6 lb ; black currants, 31/- box; all citrus ceiling. Supplies of cut blooms have come forward fairly regularly, values remaining steady, particularly for gladioli. Most varieties of vegetables have also been sought, particularly greens, such as cabbage and silverbeet, both of which are in short supply: Larger quantities of beans have come to hand, values being easier. Corn, cucumbers, pumpkins, peas and parsnips have all met with a ready sale. Larger yardings of poultry have also been offered, values in the main remaining steady, although ducks have been slightly easier. Quotations are: Gladioli, 3/-, 8/6; primroses, 6d, 1/- dozen; sweet peas, 2d, 6d; carnations, 6d, 2/-; gypsophila, 4d, 2/-; gerbera, 3d, 6d bunch; beetroot, 6/-, 14/-; caulifiowers, 20/-, 28/-; turnips, 6/-, 8/-; spinach, 16/-, 26/-; rhubarb, 2/-, 8/-; lettuce, 2/-, 7/-; marrows, 3/-, 8/case; beans, according to variety, Hd, 10|d; peas, 4d, 8d lb; carrots, 10/-, 15/- sack; cabbage, kumeras, onions, swedes, silverbeet, pumpkins, parsnips, all ceiling.
