Witli continued dry weather and water supplies running short on some properties, thei'e was a further slight easing in values for store wethers and ewes at Stortford Lodge today, while wether lambs, favoured by a short market, werj a shade firmer. Good quality shorn wether lambs sold at 22s to 24s, medium 17s 7d to 18s and sinall 13s to 15s 3d, with small ewe lambs at 15s 6d. Woolly wether lambs realised 22s 6d to 25s Gd, Down cross wether lambs made 22s to 24s, 2-th ewes sold at 25s, 5-yr. ewes 24s 9d, and G-yr. ewes 18s 5d. Four-tooth wethers sold at 29s, 2 and 4-ths at 26s and older wethers at 29s. Quality wa3 lacking in a short yarding of about 700 head of fat sheep and as a result the few good-quality pens offered met with keen inquiry at advanced rates. Heavy wethers made from 35s ld to 3Gs ld, with medium at 31s 4d, and unfmished down to 20s 7d. Values for heavy ewes ranged from 24s ld to 24s lOd, prime young ewes making 23s lOd and unlinished ewes from 19s ld to 49s 7d. Prime lambs sold at 32s lOd with small unattractive pens at 16s lOd to 22s lOd. Little interest was taken in the small entry of 100 liead of store eattle. Light conditioned niixed bred 2-oft' steers made £9, a similar line selling at £7 15s. One-olf steers made £5 18s. A small pen of cow and ealves found a buyer at £8 10s and light 2-off heifers made £4 ls Gd. Beef values held fairly firm when a varding of 140 head contained 'some good quality ox. A pen of A.A. bullocks sold at £21 and a quality consignment ranged from £18 13s Gd to £20 13s. Prime cows realised from £11 18* Gd to £13 8s Gd, unlinished down U £9 3s Gd. For prime heifers values ranged from £12 Gs to £13 Ss Gd, medium £11 ls and light £9 18s Gd.
