RACECOURSE WORK STOPPED
Received Wednesday, .9.30 p.m. SYDNEY,' Feb. 5. The construction of horse stalls and repair work on the members ' stand at the Rosehill racecourse ceased today when 011 urion instruetions, 22 brick l layers and earpenters waiked off the i job as a p»-itest against the use oi' materials urgently needed in liousing on what the union considered nonessential projects. The Federal president of the Building Workers' Indus trial Union, Mr. E. W. Buliner, said that this was the first time the union had taken Jirect action on the issue but that there would be many more. Tlie waste of liousing material on nonessential work must cease.* The Minister of Labour and Lndustry, Mr. Hamilton Ivnight, said that the department was investigatiug whether the law had beeu broken bv those responsible for the work.
