RECRUITS WANTED FOR JAPAN

WELLINGTON, Peb. 5. A call is to be made immediately for volunteers to relieve the personnel of the New Zealand Army now serving in Japan. This was announeed this evening by the Minister of Defence, Hon. F. J vines, who said the Army component of the New Zealand pccupation Foree in Japan was due for jelief this year. The Minister said the basis on which volunteers w^uld be invited to serve, would be a total period of service ' of 18 nionths or prior discharge. The R.N.Z.A.F. squad.o". in Japan, consisting of six in all of abrvt 300 persoi*cl, was also to be relieved. It was expected the original personnff wffio had now spent almost 12 months in Japan would be completely relieved very shortly.
