• I Mr. A. E. S. Ward, cliief raeecourse inspector, is to retire from the service of,ithe New Zealand Racing Conference oi; March 31. Mr, Ward has been the head of the organisation "since its inception 26 years ago and has rendered excellent service. The gangs which usod to inesl towns in o.'detr to follow race meetings, have been broken up and the -acecourses themselves have been drasticallv purgod. Much of the crqdit for the perfecting of the organisation which has aehieved this is due to Mr. Ward. • , ' 0
