"The Governments wants to bring the community and schools into the closest possible touch with each other and it is therefore greatly interested in any concrete instances pointing to rneans wherebv this end mav be accomplished," said the Minister of Educa- ! tion, Hon. H. G. R. Mason. ' when in vited this evening to commcnt on the possibility of developing combined schools and community centres in New' Zealand 011 the lines of the Impington Village College in Cambridgeshire. • He stated that the Director of Edu cation, Dr. Beeby, at prescnt visiting Britain ,to represent New Zealand at the conference of Unesco in Paris, wa most impressed by the Impington scheme which he thought would have a deiinite application in Ncvv Zcalarid. Mr. Mason said there were desirable developments in education, oue of which was disclosed in the reporl from Britain on the Impington scheme. Tn many instances our problems were noi unlike those in Britain. It was highlv instructive for anyone concenied with the administratiou to see what was donfe in other lands and he had found that so" himself during the very short time he was in England last year. The •development at 'mpington was one of greatest iniportance. ;
