The War Crimes Court found guilty all 15 accuised, foriuer membfers of tht staff of the Ravensbruck couceutration camp. Of them, ffyo women and six men were sentenced to death by hang ing'. The accused were: Johann Schwarzhuber, the depntv camp comm'ajidant, guilty of mass exterxnination. Lndwig Ramdour, who admitted torturing women to obtaih coufessions. Gustav Binder, an S.S. maji, who admitted beating women. Heinrieh Peters, an S.S. captaiu, who adniitted providing fu'ing squads for the execution of prisoners. Dorothea Binz, the chief wardress, who beat the prisoners and set dogs on them. . Vera Salvequart, a nurse, who gave lethal iujections. Klizabeth Marschall, a matron, who" was responsible for the conditions at the camp hospitals, where babies were starved to death. Dr. Gerhard >Schidlausky, fhe camp medical officer, who connived at experimental operations. Dr. Perey Treite, who ill-treated prisoners and patients. Dr. Rolf Rosenthal, who was present at experimental operations. Dr. Marten Hellenger, the camp dentist, who extracted teeth from corpses. Elizabeth Meives, a wardress in the punishment bloclc. Greta Boesel, the chief wardress of the labour battalion, who beat Ihe prisoners. Fugenia von Slcena, who acted as a spy for the S.S. Carmen M aria Morv, who denied being an international spy. " Those who were not sentenced to deatli .were: Peters, 15 years'* imprisonment; Hellenger, 15 years; Mewes, 1(1 years; von Slcena, 10 years. The pronouncement of the sentenees took 14 minutes. The prisoners ILled silently into the dock. Most of the women closed their eyes as sentence was i>assed. Most of the condenmed men showed little emotion, but the faces of those sentenced to imprisonment showed -relief, Russian officer observers attending the tr'jal stated that they were pleased with the decisions, l)ut they had expected that klewes and Peters would also be hanged. Captain Adolf 'Winlcelmann, who died from a heart attack on Saturday, was omitted from the list of findings. Morv, who is lcnown as the "Blaek Angel of Ravensbruck," swayed in the dock and then, with her head bent, crossed herself as shq was sentenced to death for the socond time in nine years. A French Court ffrst sentenced her in 1938 for espiouage on the Maginot Line.
