Keceived Friday, Ull a.m. CANBERRA, Jan. 30. The New Zealand champion Ngaire Lane tonight- broke the Canberra iswimming record for 100 yards backstroke at Canberra pool. Her time was 73 seconds, seven seconds inside the existing record of 80 seconds held by 1 the club champion Reggy Brophy who waS a close second with 76.4 seconds, breaking her own record by 3 1 seconds. ytaftiiig with magnificent grace, Miss Lane led all the way. In the first lap she led by five yards and increased the lead in the second lap.
