VOLCANIC ERUPTION
Received Wednesday, 7 p.m. SAN SALVADOR, Jan. 29. The combination of eai'lliquarke and volcanic eruption . wliiclr began ori Sunday, vvrecked or dauiaged every building in Salvador 's leading port, La Union, on the Gulf of Eonseca. Eyevvilnesses said that because of the danger- of falling buildings the entire population of 10,000 is living in parks dependent on the Salvadorean Red Cross for supplies. Two hundred earth tremors occurred to noon yesterday. The eruption of Concliagua volcanO is now abating but a. pall of smoke still overhangs the sea and lava is liowing into the sea. Only one person is thusfar known to have died as the result of the upheaval.
