By Telegraph -

w xiiiijiJN u-TON, Jan. 29. The results of the general eiection in November, lack of rolls of Maori electors, the recent industrial hold-ups and tne estaDnsnmem, oi tracung monopolies in State housing hlocks, are sudjects to be discussed at a one-day caucus of the Parliamentary members of the National Party to be held in Wellington tomorrow. The caucus is expected to elect a ■ deputy-leader of the party to sueceed | Mr. W. J. Polson who has retired from political life, and in accordance with the procedure he followed after the| 1943 eiection, the leader of the Opposi- 1 tion, Mr. S. G. Ilolland, will submit him- j self to caucus so that all members, in- : cluding the eight new ones, will havej a choice in the leadership of the party. i Mr. Holland, who arrived from ; Christchurch, said this evening that as ' it would be the first caucus of the Nat- 1 ional Party since the general eiection, : opportunity would be takou to discuss the canipaign, There would be reports from various committees which had ! been studying the results of the elec- j tion. j The National Party had already| launched it& preparations for the next | three years ' campaign so as to make it6elf ready for any eventualities. It recognised that with the Government holding offiee with its present slender majority, anything was possible. The inain reason for the caucus, howev.er, was to introduce the eight new mem- { bers of the party to their fellow-mem-bers and to appoint working committees. The Maori elections and the absence of Maori rolls were also likely to be discussed. There was certain to be a diseussion on the recent hold-up oh j the waterfront and also the hold-up ! among tug employees engaged in assis- ; ting with the salvage of the stranded j Wanganella. It was also likely that the granting of trading monopolies in State housing areas would also be discussed.
