OTAKI STATE SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE A meeting of the Otaki State School Committee - was held on Tuesday night, Mr. H. Taylor presiding. A' large amount of routine business was transacted. From a report to hand it appears that the prospects of school baths is remote, the restrictions on concrete by the Government being the cause. A circular letter received from the Wellington Education Board stated that it had fixed a wage of £6 per week for a caretaker and cleaner at schools. — This was a matter the committee decided to give full attention. Mr. Calwell, who has filled a vacanacy" on the committee, was given a welcome by the chaipman, who referred to Mr. Calwell's fine services in the past. Mr. Calwell assured the committee that he had the interests of the school at hear:., and would do his best for its welfare. It was reported that the schocl would re-open on Monday, February 3.
