AMERICAN ATHLETES AT HAMILTON
HAMILTON, Jan. 29. The weather was Hue and hot with 110 breeze when the American athletes and leading New Zealand exponents provided the principal attraction at Hinemoa Park today. The track was liard and fast. Results: — 100 vards: D. Campbell, U.S.A. (scr), 1; A. "Eustace, Auckland (scr)', 2; R. McLean, Taumarunui, 3. Time, lOsec. In a speciab attempt on the New Zealand shot putt record, A1 Hershey: U.S.A.,' broke the previous record oi 51ft. TBjtin. (set by his countryman, H. Rothbert, at Wellington in 1931) by 2f inches, Hershey's distance being 51ft. 91in. 440 yards: J. Holland (Auckland Varsity) 1, J. Grierson (Auckland) 2, D. Otway (Auckland) 3. Time, 49 1-5 see. G. Fulton (U.S.A.) pulled a muscle after covering about 50 yards and was admitted to hospital. Discus handicap: Hershey 1, F. Hodgson (Hamilton) 2, D. Churches (Hamilton)1 3. Distance, 151 feet 2 inches. 220 yards: C. Masters (Hamilton) 1. S. Boyes ' .(Hamilton) 2, J-. Martin (Matamata) 3. D. Campbell (U.S.A.) was fourth. Time, 22 l-5sec. In the 220 yardes hurdles, J. Holland (Auckland) rau the distance in 2c seconds which is one-iifth of a second outside the New Zealand record.
