TAUMARUNUI, Jan. 30. The hearing o a murder charge against two boys, James Frederick , Dodd, aged 15, and Cyril Pascoe, , aged 14, wa§ begun in court today ! before Mf. A. Coleman, S.M. The accused are charged with the mur1 der of Baymond Douglas Brinkman, aged 23, at Te Maire, on -January : 12. Brinkman died in the Taumar- : unui Hospital.. on January 1B following a btillet wdund in the stomach: - • - - The' Orown Prosecutor is Mr. J. F. ■ Strang, of Hamilton. Detective- . sergeaiit W. H. cromwell repre- •- sented the police, and Mr. A. J. ' Moody, of Auckland, and Mr. J. M. ' McKenzie, of Taumarunui, appear3d for the accused. Constable A. S. Ward, of Ohura, gave . evidence that the accused, who were absconders from the Mt. Albert Boys' Home, Auckland, escaped from his custody om the Taumarunui railway station on January 12, apparently through the waiting room window durmg wii- . ness' momentary absence when witness went to get his coat from ihe luggage offiee.
