PIPE BAND TO TAKE PART IN NAPIER CONTEST
The Horowhenua Pipe Band Wili represClit this district at the provincial contest at Napier on Saturday. For a B grade band to gaiii a place in the contest will be nd easy task, as three A grade baxids, wiil bC corttpetihg. This is the first occasiCtt dft Which the Horowhenua barid has takeri paft in a contest of this natttre, and few of its memberS have piayed before a judee. . There is, however, iio lack of coiifidence and the baiid reeefttly embarked ori an inteiisive fraiiiingj programitne. Three nights a - week the Levin Domain has beeh a seend of feverish aCtivity, the praetises qfteu lasting titi long after dark. The services of Mr. M, Kehoe have beCn enlisted to put ihe band through the vafitms marching movemeilts which wiil be expected of them during the contest. Mr. Kehoe is himself a past brass band drum major, and has trained^ many bands in the art of contest marching.
