OTAKI JOCKEY'S SUCCESS

Among the most successful jockeys for the first tliree days of the Wellington Racing Club's meeting, W. J. Broughton headed the list, securing five wins on the first two days. W. Connor, of Otaki, was also very successful, riding Sage King to victory on two occasions and also ,an outsider (12/12 in the betting) into third place. He also rode Beau Le Havre, winning the Gloaming Stakes, j a race worth £2000. In his last win with Sage King, Connor put up a fine performance. After drawing a marble for 14th position, he had a bad run for a time, getting hemmed in through no fault of his own, while on one occasion his mount was almost down on his knees. Once out of the ruck Sage King came through to win nicely, proving himself a class horse. Mr. W. McEwan, of Otaki, deserves every credit for his preparation of the horse.
