HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL SPORTS

LARGE CROWD AT MANAKAtTS ANNUAL FIXTURE In brilliant sunshine, and patronised by a large gathering of residents and visitors, Manakau held its annual Anniversary Day sports on Wednesday. Mr. R. Robinson conducted the meeting and was ably assisted by the joint secretaries, Messrs H. Parker and. I. Drake, and a willing committee, ±he grounds being made available y by courtesy of Mr. I. Bertram.; Visitors were present from as f ar as -Rongotea and the Hutt Valley. Judge of the various events was Mr. D. V. Howe, of Rongotea, with Mr. J. H. Mungavin, of Ohau, assisting as steward. The ground was in perfect condition and many took the opportunity of making the occasion one for a family picnic. All events were run off without delay, and the manner in whicli toey were conducted refiects great credit on those responsible for the meeiing and its preparatory organisation. Featured in the varied programme was a sheep weight guessing competition, which was won by M. Hanson, of Wellington. Detailed results of the various events are as under: — Open hunters' jump: Mr. G.
