FAMOUS DIVER FLYING FROM AUSTRALIA TO TAKE PART IN WANGANELLA SALVAGE

WELLINGTON, January 24. A dramatic development in the attempts to free the Huddart Parker liner Wanganella from Barrett's Reef, where she has been stranded since Sunday night, occurred following yesterday afternocn's examination of the ship. The company has decided to engage the famous diver, Mr. John John stone, of Melbourne, who won renown for his work during the salvage operations om the Union Company's Niagara, which was sunk by a mine off the North Auckland coast during the war. Arrangements have been made to fly Mr. J ohnstone today from Anstralia to Auckland, and he is expected to reach Wellington by train tomorrow morning.
The bringmg of Mr. Johnstone from Australia followed, immediately on the arrival in Wellington yesterday afternoon of Captain G. MvcDonald, marine underwriter and surveyor for the Huddart Parker Co., who made an immediate inspection of the liner with the assistance of other' experts. It is understood that Mr. Johnstone is being brought over at his instance. The experts conferred last night and again this morning at the company's office in Wellington.
