PERSONAL

Constable J. G. Gunn, of Palmerston North, is relieving Constable W. R. Gillespie, of Levin, who is at present on annual leave. A portrait in oils of SquadronLeader L. H. Trent, V.C., of Nelson, has been painte'd by Mr. A. Nicoll, of Christchurch. It was painted at the request of branches of the Nelson College Old Boys' Association throughout the Dominion for presentktion to the college. One of New Zealand's foremost orchestra and dance band leaders, Mr. Martin Winiata, of Christchurch, was a recent visitor to Levin. His 14-piece band makes regular weekly radio broadcasts and is recognised as the best of its kind in the Dominion. He was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. T. Winiata, Levin.
