Open Sprint To Blue Bonny HACK CUP TO BARUCH The Ashhurst-Pohangina Racing Cluh's annual meeting was held at Awapuni yesterday under perfect conditions except that the going was a trifle hard. Good fields faced the starter and the racing could not have heen better. The attendance was large and the totalisator handled £46,365 10s, compared with £34,705 10s last year, the increase heing £11,660. Win for Thunderhead Tliunderhead took eliarge running to the last fenee and lie went on to win nicely from Foreign Coiu and Lauoma. Lauoma loil early being followed past the stands by Gay Rouen, Grand Central, Foreign (Join and Sterling Gold. Foreign Coin improved going to the half niile wliere Thunderhead, and Grand Central were also in ihe pieture. Thunderhead headed Foreign Coin before they reaelied the last fenee and he won after being ridden out to hold oll tlic detennined ' challenge by Foreign Coin. Lanoma was third followed by Grand Central, Park Light and Transuiitter. Fiud Out Was Best Novice Fiiul Out, truinod in Gisborne, was responsible for an attraetive ell'ort in the Novice Ftakes, whieh he won by over a lengtli from lmprint and Arctic Cire.'e. Find Out was clear of Arctic Circle ali ea d of lniprint, Lord Leo, Bonifort and Glebelicltl running to tlio straiglit and he wonl 011 to win comfortably. lniprint was Ino lengths aliead of Artic Circle and tlie uext lioine were Lord Leo, Lackainor and Glebeiield. Oue for the Favourite Luminate from Opaki was4 favourite for the Komako iiack and she won after a sustained linishiag run. Flak, Trig l'oint, Silver Mascot, Luminate and Tudur Cliief was the order early and Trig Point, Lady Oratory apd Audacious were most proiniiient into the straiglit wliere Luminate moved up to challenge and won by half a length from Beau Sort, wliieh uiade up a lot of ground to beat Trig Point by u length for secoud uioney. Silver Mascot was fourth followed by Grand Affair, Gynee Lou and Royal Baron. Gay Lena Wins well Gay Lena's Ashhurst Cup win was attraetive for she gave nothing else a cliance over the last bit. 1 Duteli Mary set the earlv pace aliead of Delinquont, Lady Cliips, Filature and Gay Lena. Cramond Bay moved forward into tliird plaee hve furlongs from hoiue and Dolinquent went to the front as they rueed aerpss the top. Gay Lena took eliarge on the home tuni and she won as sho likecl by three lengtlis from Deliu(|uent and Gynerio was the best part of a length further back. Duteli Mary was a elose fourth and Lady Cliips, Blue Chips, Cramond Bay aiul Dileas were next. Veine d'Or Beats Petre Mar Veine d'Or was Jirst clioice for the two-year old raee and she won but by only a. ueck from Petre Mar. Master Roe was third. ' Veine d'Or, "Roblyn, Petre Mar, Myfnx and Meteorina were prominent 011 ! the home turu and Petre Mar's challenge to Veine d 'Or failed by only a ncek. V 1|) time and Glen Urguhart and Plying 1 Orders filled the minor plaees.. Blue Bonny was lirst out and Glen Urquhart, Drambuie and Master Baron followed him to the straiglit. Blue Bonny soon put the issue beyond doubt, winning by three lengths. Glen Urquliart beat Flying Orders by half a length. Drabuie was fourth. . Easy for Baruch Baruch, from Stratford, was lirst choice for the Hack Cup and he did not give liis aupporters much cause for anxiety. Master Gain, Begowned, Goody Two Shoes and Baruch were all prominent early and Baruch had charge at the straiglit entrance. He won easily by three lengths from Goody Two Shoes and there was more "day-lig-ht ' ' to Gay Sport. Lambro was fourth. Last to Ella Shields Ella Shields, traiued in Wanganui, won the eoncluding event after a keen ilnish with Royal Baron, Royal Plasli and Sun Bnrn.
