APPEAL FOR HARDER WORK

WHEN INDUSTRY IS HAMPERED BY COAL SHORTAGE. Received Wednesday, 11.15 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 22. Economic and financial circles feel that the economic White Paper fails to indicate a bold policy for dealing with future concrete problems, says the Australian Associated Press 's special representative. Experts point out that the general public is not easily awakened to a realisation of the consequenees of Britain' s allout war effort and emphasise that the White Paper boils down to an appeal for harder work hy hoth staffs and managements which coines at a time when industry 's ability to make a greater effort is being hampered by reduced coal allocations. The White Paper has nevertheless, temporarily at least, pricked the bubble of stock exchange speculation.
