( SPECIAL — FROM
WELLINGTON, This Day. With a continuance of the fine weather that Wellington has enjoyed since Friday the going for the third day of the Wellington Iiacing Club's summer meeting tomorrow (Anniversary Day) will be fast. Another record crowd is expected. The fields are not as large as on the first two days, but they are of handy size and the racing should be up to the good standard of Saturday.
The star feature tomorrow will be the Gloaming Stakes, for three-year-olds, run under Derby conditions. The New Zealand and Great Northern Derby winners, Beau le Havre and Royal Tan, are engaged as well as-Howe, runnerup in both events and triple winner at Trentham. These three should provide a great race and prospects are that Beau le Havre will again prove his class. Another event that will have its thrills is the Wellington Racing Club Handicap in which Golden Souvenir will carry the steadier of 10 stone. He ran a good race in the Wellington C.up last Saturday and but for beiiig forced to run over too much ground would certainly have fought out the issue with Bruce and Broiefield. He must be respected tomorrow. Fresh horses in the field are Kerry Lad,. Bridge Acre, Capronella and Barrage. Handily placed in the weights is the smart Merry Robin, who, at 8.4, is not without bright prospects. Kerry Lad is a form horse from up north, the same also applying to Bridge Acre from the south. Langue d'Or ran a good fourth in the Cup last week as also did Signal Oflicer, both of whom will carry strong supp'ort tomorrow. Foxhaven met with trouble in the Cup and was one of the last going down the back. Making his run on the outer he quiekly made up ground, but was checked at the bend into the straight. Over the last two furlongs he improved his position to finish ninth. Foxhaven won the Wellington Racing Club Handicap last year and holds excellent prospects tomorrow. Of the others Lowry Bay might prove the best. The open sprint, the Metropolitan Handicap looks like a "good thing" for the first day winner Yasda. He will certainly find strong opposition coming from Tideless, Theocritus, Lady Nahleen and Leigh Barton, if produced in this event. At Awapuni the Ashhurst Club will conduct its Anniversary Day fixture ' at Awapuni tomorrow! Excellent fields are carded. Baruch is engaged in both the Gorge Hack Cup 'at Awapuni and the Douro Hack Handicap at Trentham and at timc of writing it was not suro which meeting he would attend, but chances are that he will race at , Awapuni. Betting will be win and place at both meetings. Prospects are: 11.10 — Mungaroa Hurdles (1!| miles) — Battlc Chicf, Amorlad, Skyhawk. 11.55 — Gloaming Stakes (li miles.) — Beau le Havre, Howe, Royal Tan. 12.40 — January Handicap (1 mile; — -Opulent, Grill, Gay Stroller. 1.30 — Camp Hack Handicap (11 furlongs) — Pandemonium, Mattiwene, Sailor Boy. 2.20 — Wellington R.C. Handicap (11 miles) — Merry Robin, Foxhaven, Langue d'Or. 3.10 — Mursery ILanclicap (6 furlongs) — Sir Royal, Distinction, Darius. 4.0 — Metropolitan Handicap (7 furlongs) — Yasda, Tideless, Theocritus. 4.50 — Douro Hack Handicap (1 mile) — Armont, Mallow, Sage King if Baruch scratched.
