Workers Union decided today that the union would call a 24-hour stoppage oi: the postal services unless the Pcderal Government granted a sitbstantial increase in pay by «he etul of .February. Big Jump in Retail Meat Prices. Retail meat prices in Bvdney will oe iricreased by a penny to 24d per lb. weig'ht tomorrow which will be the prices to operate when the shops reopen on Tuesday. This l'ollows Mr. Chifiey 's announcement last week that wholesale meat prices would be" raised ld. per lb. Strong protests have been made against the increase by union officials, housewives and members of Parliament. Belected prices per lb. will be : Fillet beeli 2s 7d, sirloin, Is 4d; mutton, shortloin cliops, ls 2d ; hiudfjuarter, ls; lanib, leg, ls 4d; foreqliarter. llid; veal fillets, ls 3'd.
