HIGHEST AVERAGE PRICE NEAR 300 GUINEAS Tlie highest average price for stud rams at the amiual Feilding sale tliis weck was close to 300 guineas, the successful breeder being Mr. H. J. Andrew, of Maheno, North Otago, who topped tlie market for Southdowns at 570 guineas. He sold six rams for a total of 1795 guineas. Second place was secured by the estate of W. J. Gimblett, of Hastings, whose average was 153 guineas for four'rams which realised 615 guineas. Messrs Illston and Sons, of Hunterville, eame next in the Southdowns with an average of 141 guineas with eight rams sold for 1135 guineas. The Marlborough stud ' of Messrs R. Dysart "aud Sons claimed fourth place with an average of 131 guineas for seven rams which realised a total of 920 guineas. Tlie Canadian breeders, Don Head Farmers Ltd., of Ontario, came next with an average of 130 guineas for six rams ivhich realised 780 guineas. The Feilding breeder, Mr. James Knight, whose stock was proniinent, in the success of other breeders, obtained an average of 83 guineas for the nine rams sold, and Messrs- J. and S. Madeley, of Kaiapoi, obtained an average of 73 guineas for six rams sold. Mr. A..M. Henson, of Feilding, obtain1 ed -an ave-iage of 72 guineas0 M'r.

BfOwn and Sons, of Kiwitea, obtained the best average of 196 guineas for 17 rams sold, as well as tlie highest price of 710 guineas and the second best price of 610 guineas. The total realisations for tliis breeder were 3340 guineas. Second place was secured by Mr. J. H. Rutherford, of Kiwitea, whose f'Middlewood" stud oflrerings averaged 170 guineas and the 12 rams sold realised 2045 guineas. For his 12 rams Mr. T. E. Craine averaged 123 guineas and received 1480' guineas. Messrs A. P. Southey and Sons, of Masterton, came next with an average of 113 guineas for ten xams which realised 1135 guineas. The gstate of W. C. Small, of Waituna, obtained an average of 110 guineas for two rams sold. The ' ' Kamano ' ' stud of Mr. H. B. Johnston, of Kiwitea, made the biggest olfering, selling 27 rams at an average of 107 guineas, the total realisations being 2885 guineas. An average of 106 guineas ivas obtained by the "Te Marama" stud of the estate of E. D. Warburton, of Kiwitea, which disjioscd of 19 rams for 2025 guineas. The Marton breeder, Mr. R. T. N. Fergusson, came ucxt with an* average of 96 guineas for four rams, and Mr. D. Ivilgour, of Kiwitea, secured an average of 95 guineas for tliree rams sold. Mr. E. E. Short, of Feilding, sold three rams at an average of 88 guineas, and Mr. J. B. Mitchcll, of Kairanga, obtained an average of 85 guineas for four rams. Mr. James Beard, of Kiwitea, sold four rams at an average of 78 guineas, and Mr. S. E. Gibbs, of Marton, secured an average of 75 guineas for two rams.
