WLLLIxNGTON, Jan. 16. High prices were realised on the opening day of the 21st national sale of thorouglibred yearlings at Trentham today, 90 lots being sold for 63,985gns., an averagc of 710gus. Australian buyers were very active, securing 35 lots and eontributing 33,095gns. which w'as more than half of tlie aggregate turnovcr. The principal purcliasers were Mr. W. K. Kcmball, of Melbourne, who bought seven lots for 9800gns.; Mr. L. B. Israel, of Bcone, Now Bouth Wales, who bought four lots for 4500gns; the Byduey trainer 0. McLoughlin, who sceured six lots for 4075gns. Mr. Kemball paid tlie top price of SOOOgns. for a black colt by the Dominiou 's champion sire Foxbridge fropa. Koonneta, a inare by Bulandshar. Twcnty-five of tlie 90 lots sold realised lOOOgns or morc. Four eolts by Foxbridge from the Trelawney Stud, Cambridge, sold for a total of 8150gns. Tlie Trelawney Stud quitted 13 lots for au average of 1399gns. The Windsor Park Stud, Oamaru, sold four lots for au average of 1325gns. The first colt by the imported stallion Probation, offered at the sale realised lGoOgns. He was from Hui bred at the Sasanof Stud, Hastings, and was seeured by Mr, Kemball. The higliest price among the fillies was 1700 gns. for a bay by Neptune from Jolly sold on account of the Cranleigh Stud, Maxwell. She was bought by tlie Takanini trainer, F. Smith, who also seeured a goodlooking eolt by Finis from Kama for 2100gns. and a brown colt by Balloeh froni Taupiri for 1050gns. The stock of Finis, Balloeh atid-Nizami in addition to that of Foxbridge excited keen competition. A j colt by Foxbridge from Sally Ann was , knoclced down to F. V. Lysons acting ' on behalf of the Maharajah of Kashmir, j India, for lGOOgns. Ken Anstin seeured for South Afriean buyers a chestnut colt by Revelation from Eudorace at650gns. Mr. Austin also bought for India a chestnut eolt by Nizami from Pedile for 900gus. a Ineluding thes V three lots overseas buyers seeured 38 ox the 90 lots sold.
