GIRLS PLAN TO FLY ROUND AUSTRALIA
Two young Perth girls, who learncd to fly only last year, are" planning a round-Australia flight. They have all enthusiasm necessary, but at the moment, no aeroplane. The would-be Continentcirclers are Miss Anne Lewis, of Kalamunda and Miss Leslie Bateman, South Perth. Miss Lewis already has her "A" license and Miss Bat&man expects to get hers very soon. y Said Miss Lewis : "We don't know what made us. think of it, but It came into our minds a couple of months ago. We are both swatting navigation like mad." Asked whether she was nervous at the prospects of some of the hops in lonely country, Miss Lewis said she felt quite confident. Longest flight they would probably make would be about 300 miles. She was sure either of them': could keep on the course over that distance. Her longest solo flight to date was from Cunderdin to Perth. She hoped they would be able to get a sponsor for the flight as 'at the moment they are rath'er hard up as the result of doing a lot of flying in the last 10 months. If they got a sufflciently speedy plane "hey would be prepared to attempt the round-Australia record.
